Biography

Casey O’Brien first joined the UCF RESTORES team as a volunteer in the fall of 2018, following her honorable discharge from the United States Marine Corps. At that time, Casey was attending UCF as a Master of Social Work (MSW) student and she found herself greatly intrigued by the immense success UCF RESTORES was having at treating trauma-related concerns in military and first-responder populations. As she progressed through her graduate program, Casey eventually transitioned her role from that of a volunteer to a clinical intern; a change that allowed her the opportunity to gain over 600 hours of clinical involvement in client care. Casey continued in this capacity, while also working as a research assistant with the UCF School of Social Work, until her graduation in the spring of 2020. In addition to graduating with honors, Casey also completed certificates in Military Social Work and Marriage, Couples, and Family Therapy. In the year following graduation, Casey accepted positions that allowed her to provide mental health services to adolescents and adults experiencing a variety of mood, anxiety, behavior, and trauma-related concerns. Starting in May of 2021, Casey was elated to again join the UCF RESTORES team, this time as a clinician dedicated to providing quality and effective mental health services to the individuals, families and communities RESTORES serves.
