Biography
Dr. Bowers holds a Ph.D in Psychology from the University of South Florida. His research has focused largely on technology-assisted training and education, with the long-term goal of enhancing human functioning and behavioral health. In the early part of his career, the emphasis was on using various technologies to improve the training of military and commercial aviation teams, two high-risk professions for which even relatively minor mistakes can have major, and often fatal, consequences. This included a particular emphasis on the development and validation of test-beds and measures to facilitate research in this area. More recently, he has researched the use of game and simulation technologies to treat mental illnesses such as PTSD and Social Phobia.
